Since 1994, Black Crystal has been engaged in the production of crystal products in Ajka (with hand cutting and sandblasting). Our goal is to meet all the needs of our customers both in the domestic and foreign markets. In addition to wholesale and retail units, we also make ourselves available to customers in several European countries through our own online stores.

Our product range includes various crystal items such as glasses, goblets, vases, bowls, and candle holders. Furthermore, we specialize in the production of promotional items and corporate gifts, where we display the company logo on the products or boxes.

All of our employees have studied this profession and practiced it for years to develop their craftsmanship to an appropriate level. Concentration, technical knowledge, and a love for the craft can only together guarantee quality for our customers.

We place great emphasis on the quality of raw materials, as this determines the pure sparkle characteristic of crystal products. We value constant renewal and development, while also respecting traditions.

It is particularly important to us that only excellent quality products leave the factory. In addition to the continuously manufactured stocks that we can immediately sell, we also deal with the realization of custom ideas.

On Production

The crystal products we distribute are exclusively adorned with hand cutting. During the design phase, we carefully create the décor, taking into account the shape and parameters of the object. A test piece is made to verify the feasibility of the cutting and to determine the hand-drawn intersecting points during marking, ensuring similarity within the stock.

During production, defined lines form networks on the products, then the cutting process begins, which can only be done by professionals with appropriate training. Following the cutting, the crystals undergo a special acid treatment that smoothens their surfaces, making them shiny. Acid treatment is also done manually, following strict occupational safety regulations.

After acid treatment, the crystals return to the cutting wheel, where "matte" cuts are made with thin lines. Concentration is particularly crucial in this process. Cleaning and boxing the products is also done by hand.

Those who choose this profession undergo years of training to master the intricacies of the craft. Crystals are delicately shaped against the cutting wheel, while they float in the air. During production, precise work and constant concentration are essential, as a faulty move can lead to significant waste.

Materials

We work with two different materials: traditional lead crystal and lead-free crystal.

Lead Crystal:

Lead crystal is produced through melting. One of its most important components is lead oxide, which constitutes 24% of the lead crystal melt. This makes lead crystal denser and shinier. The "24% PbO" marking on products refers to this. The crystal can be made by blowing or pressing, sometimes with a combination of both methods. These crystal products can later be decorated in various ways, such as cutting.

Lead-Free Crystal:

By modifying the traditional composition of lead crystal, a new lead-free crystal has been developed. Lead-free crystal retains the color, brightness, and shine of traditional lead crystal, but it is lighter and more resistant to mechanical impacts and damage. Additionally, production costs have been reduced thanks to modern technology. It's important to note that lead-free crystal is an environmentally friendly alternative, as lead is not used in its production. Lead-free crystal is also produced through melting, and to achieve the desired color and luster, barium or titanium oxides are added. Products can be decorated in various ways, including cutting, engraving, gilding, and painting. During cutting, the products are pressed more strongly against the cutting wheels, as lead-free crystal is a stronger material.
